Links in signature

Thanks for the reply Jerry.
It looks as if signature file was created or edited outside of winpm-32 signature editor since by default background color/test color nor underline of URL is done by default.
Nope.  I didn't even know it was possible to create a signature externally and shoehorn it into Pegasus.  This signature was created on a blank signature set using the Local address, formatted content variant.  Lines 1 and 2 were typed as normal.  Line 3 I typed "This is a line with a ", clicked the link button on the toolbar, completed the fields and hit OK.

Either way, I'll play with fonts their sizes to see if I can get what I want.

Thanks again

Stuzz

PS.  One thing to note is, the signature looks perfectly fine when a message is being edited.  The extra spacing only appears when viewing a sent message.

Hi

I want to put html links to a mailto: address and a webpage in my email signature (I realise an email address in an email is a bit redundant, but that's not important here).

When I send an email with the links to myself, the lines with links have more vertical spacing than the lines without (see attached).  This makes the whole signature unaesthetically pleasing.  Looking at the raw view of the email, I see this:

<div align="left"><font face="Arial" size="2"><span style=" font-size:10pt">This is a line without a link</span></font></div>
<div align="left"><font face="Arial" size="2"><span style=" font-size:10pt">This is another line without a link</span></font></div>
<div align="left"><font face="Arial" size="2"><span style=" font-size:10pt">This is a line with a </span></font><a href="http://www.pmail.com" mce_href="http://www.pmail.com">
<font face="Arial" color="#0000ff" size="2"><span style=" font-size:10pt"><u>link</u></span></font></a></div>
<div align="left"><font face="Arial" size="2"><span style=" font-size:10pt">This is another line with a </span></font><a href="http://www.pmail.com" mce_href="http://www.pmail.com">
<font face="Arial" color="#0000ff" size="2"><span style=" font-size:10pt"><u>link</u></span></font></a></div>

I'm not a HTML guru, but is there some unrequired code in there (namely the <u></u> element) that would be causing the extra spacing, and is there any way to remove it so that the vertical spacing for the lines with links is the same as the linkless lines?

Regards

It looks as if signature file was created or edited outside of winpm-32 signature editor since by default background color/test color nor underline of URL is done by default. The signature Editor uses the setting of your Editor font by default but may be set { the f button) within the signature Editor. Arial 10 font does not render well or full size compared to other font sets which is why most users change their Editor and Reader font choice to something else. To guarantee no distortion in ascii art, numberic or tabular data it is almost always necessary to use monospaced font set.

Most editors add space vertically above base line when underlining and some even allow choice of line height.

Try recreating using winpm-32 signature Editor and select different proportional font set like maybe Verdana and then with monospaced font like Consolsas and see the differences. If you keep

Arial 10pt as default for message Editor you will have to decrease font size you will have to decrease font set size in the signature Editor to something that renders a bit less line maybe 9pt or 8pt or else it may cause disastrous line wrap of signature file.

Be careful with text color also since you have no control over background color of the receiver so you must assume white.

Use the signature Editor abilities to create URL and insert and same for the added mailto: address too if you want them to appear as clickable links in HTML version. They are automatic in plain text version of signature file when viewed with WinPMail or many other mail clients. HTML sigantures are created by default without making them clickable.
