Since PM47 and the new spellchecker I do have the problem, that the spellchecker comes up twice. Because nobody else on german mailinglist on Pegasus has that problem, I want to ask for help here.

Environment:

  • Central installation on Servers under Novell Netware as well as local installation tested
  • NDS-Module active (I think, that's the main difference and may  be the reason)
  • Pegasus configured to do spellcheck on send
  • Spellcheck configured to start automatically (but is not relevant as tested)
  • Have two dictionaries active (german and english), but same problem if I deactivate the second one again

If I press SEND in the messageditor, spellchecker comes up. After correcting to bottom of text spellchecker asks if to start at top of message (sorry - have german version - try to translate). I click NO! Spellchecker closes and comes up immediately again starting the spellcheck. After that second "round" clicking NO will finish the spellchecker finaly, mail will be sent and question on making a copy to self comes up.

It makes no difference, if I even don't want to spellcheck and though click the button STOP / FINISH / CLOSE (what ever stands in english version there) in the spellchecker, when it comes up the first time. Reaction is the same (closes and comes up again) - clicking that buttom again will finaly finish the spellchecker.

Any suggestions?

Hi FJR

In my limited experience the spell checker has displayed twice since 4.6.  The first spell check is checking the subject of the email, and the second checks the body.

Hope that helps

Are you shure? Don't want to run PM463 again (which is still installed central for our users - PM47 is only tested by the admins) with my account, but I don't remember the old spellcheck coming up twice.

And - both checks are starting with the subject and go all trough the mail. Just had a mail with missspelled words in subject (which I didn't correct for sorting purposes, because it was an reply).

And I had that problem on the german mailinglist and nobody else had the new spellcheck coming up twice.

As a matter of fact v4.7 is supposed to fix the "twice" issue occurring with 4.63, so I'm really surprised that you still appear to see it ...

Sorry it is not a problem I have come across, spellcheck does do title then body but does not appear to come up twice on 4.7 and I did not have this problem on 4.63 either.  I will watch out for it though.

Hmm ... it seems, that this problem didn't occure under all circumstances with PM46 (see messages by Chris and Stuzz).

Could you describe the circumstances reasonable for occuring that problem? Perhaps I can search for the reason it still occures with my installation of PM47. If it is something in PMAIL.INI (which was first created somewhere in the late 80s, early 90s for me and updated by Pegasus through the years and versions :-), I may fix it handish.

Only David can, I have absolutely no idea. Maybe it depends on whether you have auto-ckecks on send enabled or not.

It depends - starting spellcheck manually (STRG+K) does the spellcheck only once (with my environment - don't know, what happens to others). But as that is not what I wanted I didn't test is. Would you tell David about?

Do you use any of my encryption extensions? Since they interfere with sending for doing an address check and then restart sending they trigger a second spell check. In previous versions I prevented this second instance from popping up but didn't adjust for the recent changes in dialog design since I don't use spell checking and forgot about all these hacks I implemented for convenience ...
