pop set up problems

I just want to thank all for their efforts. I just uninstalled  the program. I have never In my life had so much problems using an after market mail program as this. I know there's a better way. I will keep searching for something else. again, thanks

An internet session log may provide more information about the cause of the failure.  Internet session logging can be enabled on the General tab of Tools | Internet options.  Read the help file on the topic of internet session logging for details about what is logged and where to find the log files.  Be careful not to post the entire content of a log file as it contains your authentication credentials.  Don't forget to turn off the logging once you are done troubleshooting.

Also, I suggest you increase your timeout setting to at least 30 (some folks need it higher).  There are two places to do this.  The first in each POP3 and SMTP host configuration and the second is on the General tab of Tools | Internet options.  This one is only used when your POP3 or SMTP host configurations have their timeout values set to 0.  More info is in the Help file.

I think the problem are your email-settings.

I'm inclined to agree. the settings as I have posted maybe wrong, I'm not that literate with this stuff. do I need to put the "ssl" in anywhere as I have not?  what does it mean requires ssl? am I to insert it?  all of this is a bit confusing to me.

thanks

The respective SMTP and POP3 host dialogs on Tools => Internet options for your mail account both provide a Security page for setting proper options.

peg. mail v4.70

part of the problem is I don't believe I have I put the proper settings in there. I had similar problems when I tried to forward to gmail. I just stumble on the correct ones after days of trying but this one has me stumped. this is the reason I'm trying to run the logs but can't find out how to retrieve the info to post. thanks

There should be a subdirectory in your mailbox directory (see Help => About Pegasus Mail => Info for it's location) called TCPLogs. So did you set up the proper SSL/TLS settings as recommended by this post?

As written before please check the Security pages of your POP3 and SMTP configurations and modify them to apply SSL or TLS as advised. See below for an example (I'm using a different provider so your required settings might be different).

I am getting more an more disgusted with this program. now I looked all over god's green earth an can't find the security pages. I think I'm just goin to call it quits, this mail program is just not worth it.

Go to Tools | Internet options.  In there you will see a tab labeled Receiving (POP3) and one labeled Sending (SMTP).  In there is where you create your POP3 and SMTP hosts and inside of those host configurations is where you enter your authentication credentials, security settings and configure download controls.

FWIW, Pegasus Mail comes with a very comprehensive manual.  It is installed by default in c:\pmail\programs as manual.pdf.

You need to open a POP3 or SMTP definition as indicated below:

After selecting a connection then look to the right and hit the Edit  button and you will get three more tabs. On the Security one check the one for direct SSL.

when I get to that tab I have a choice, hit the DOT  for cable or hit the DOT for dial up. I do not have an edit button. is everyone on the same mail program as I?

peg. mail V4.7  seems everyone is in a different mail program then I.  my tabs look nothing like most of yours
