Can't get POP3 mail to work with 1and1.com servers

Yes, but because of your reminder, I went back and triple checked, and found my problems.

For POP3, I had forgotten to enable SSL.  For SMTP, I had the wrong port.   My hosting service doesn't use the standard ports.

Thanks for sending me back to the basics!  That's usually where most problems occur, isn't it?

Hi, new to the program, and trying to get it to work with my mail servers. I have my own domain, and all my mail goes through their servers (except one account with my ISP).

I know I have mail on the server, because I sent a test message from another account.  However, I can't get it to download, and can't figure out why.   I've entered the info as provided by my hosting service, but things aren't working.

Same for SMTP. I can't send, either.

When I try to send or download, I do see some activity in the lower left - I assume that's a message bar.  It tells me it's connecting to the appropriate server, but it times out, and that's that.

I know it's not a DNS issue because I can ping the servers using the URL.

Can anyone give me some pointers?

Have you entered the information required in the security tab of the server definitions?
