7.0 spell check refuses to use a new word

OK, this is a strange one.  I am using Pmail 7.0 and have added numerous words to the dictionary using the "add word" method with perfect success.... until now.  The word "insured's" is not in the main dictionary.  Adding it during spell check has proven useless, as it continues to see the word as miss-spelled.  I went into "settings" and added it manually, but it still continues to see it as miss-spelled.  I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue, except I use that word in emails at least a dozen times a day.  Any idea?  It always worked in previous versions...  been a pmail fan for most of its windows-based life!

Hi Caisson.  I see (and read) the thread you posted the link to.  In its description of the problem it seems to be when the apostrophe (or quote mark) is located at the end of a word.  In this case, where the word is [insured's] the "s" is the final part of the word.

Are you using the stock dictionary and aff file as 4.70 shipped or are you using a newer or different dictionary? I am using updated US dictionary and aff files from LibreOffice4 and the word insured's does not trigger as misspelled. Word does trigger in community Editor which I assume is using the Firefox browser dictionary which is different than the LibreOffice one.  The word also does not trigger as misspelled in Tiny spell 1.9.5 either. both those are used in WinPMail Editor interface in my setup plus UK dictionary as alternate secondary and that one does not offer word insured's.

I'm using the built-in dictionary. I'm not sure even how to use a different one. Any tips?

http://community.pmail.com/files/folders/pegadd/entry40709.aspx download link will show information necessary to use alternate dictionary with v4.70. You may already have a suitable one on your local drive or you can download one from OpenOffice site.

In my case I already had LibreOffice installed and in use so I just repointed v4.70 to use that dictionary. If running INSPMDIC you will be offered choice of using dictionary from original site or copying to the existing DICTS sudir of existing v4.70 install.

I've installed two separate dictionaries and each allows the word "insured's" to be added, but the spell checker still refuses to acknowledge it as a valid word.

Similar words such as "insurer's" are given as substitutes, but it seems there is something in the spell check engine preventing this.

 Any more thoughts?

Some of the OpenOffice and LibreOffice dictionaries do contain your problem word and it is handled correctly and offered as a choice in the spelling check window of V4.70 too. I included a short section from the .dic file of one dictionary. No need to add word to custom dictionary file.

The available much larger US dictionary

is one that has your word for sure. I use a much smaller US dictionary from LibreOffice and it also handles  your insured's word correctly also.
