anomaly when saving attachment

Have you tried accessing the actual document once it has been saved?? Maybe it doesn't show the extension because you have the setting as hidden, but you'll still be able to access it. You can manually change or add the extension though, this might help:

This is definetely not an issue. This ackward windows explorer behaviour of hiding extensions and system files does not fool me :)  I actually use TotalCommander for browsing the file system.

Hello!

May be its just my setup but for several occasions aI have noticed that the attached faile names as "xxxx yyyy V3.2  01-11-11.doc"  when saved to a disk has a filename "xxxx yyyy V3.2  01-11-1". Extension ".doc" is chomped off. Seems like the parsing of extension is somehow flawed...

The Pmail is Version 4.70 (Win32), Feb 27 2014, build ID 546 and underlying OS is WinXP.

Is this behaviour is something introduced with latest 4.70 version or is it somehow related to my local OS version & setup?

The problem appears to be a truncation of the filename but I was unable to duplicate the problem.  I ran a test by sending myself a text file with a 24 character long filename (excluding the extension).  It saved with the filename intact.  I then added a "." as the fourteenth character to see if the embedded dot was causing a problem.  That attachment saved with the filename intact as well.  As a third test I sent a file named "xxxx yyyy V3.2  01-11-11.txt".  It also saved fine.  These tests were originally done on PMail v4.63 so I bounced the test messages to an address I access with a flash drive install of v4.70.  No problems with the attachment saves under that version either.  My OS is Win7.

I have seen Pmail users report that the filename visible in the Attachment pane was being truncated but that was because the File name column was not wide enough to display the entire filename.  This does not affect how it is saved to disk though.

When you save, do you see the entire filename in the File name area of the "Export to which file?" window or is that being populated with the truncated filename?
