Verizon - Sudden inability to send e-mail

I setup my user account here just to reply to this thread and say THANK YOU!!!!

This is the 2nd time in 6 months that Verizon required a change to a Pegasus setting to keep working.

I’ve just managed to beat into submission the subject difficulty. It is now 3:57 EST which means that I have invested almost four hours of my time solving an inability to send mail.

I contacted Verizon tech support who genuinely endeavored to be of assistance to no avail. I searched on line until I was bleary eyed…

What was tried and failed:

90 minutes on the phone with a better than average tech at Verizon.
Check and re-check all current SMTP setting to insure everything was as need be.
Upgraded my 4.67 version of Pegasus to version 4.7

Not to belabor the point any longer, the fix… open the SMTP security tab, place a checkmark into the “Do not use CRAM-MD5 authentication even if it is advertised”

I was back in business, literally. An inability to utilize Pegasus would severely limit my productivity.

I hope that this helps someone else in the Pegasus community of users.

Thanks

But we still don't know what caused the problem.  Why were things working smoothly one day and the next we need to check the "Do not use CRAM-MDS" box?  Ummmm.

Yes I noticed also that Verizon stopped accepting my Pegasus emails today. I spend many hours trying to find why this happened and finally called Verizon support. They worked on the problem for quite a while and then gave up. The technician did not have a clue!

My investigation led to the conclusion that the problem was at Verizon and I am waiting for an explanation.

I am disappointed with Verizon.

Thank you is an understatement.

It fixed my desktop with an up-to-date Version 4.70 with one click.

My other system running 4.41 (2006) doesn't have that opinion on the SMTP security screen, so it looks like I will have to crawl kicking and screaming into the modern era on that one as well.

THE VERIZON "INABILITY TO SEND PEGASUS EMAIL" SOLUTION SEEMS TO WORK!

Thanks sceneryguru

And here is the solution again:

"open the SMTP security tab, place a checkmark into the “Do not use CRAM-MD5 authentication even if it is advertised”
