Fixing the domain in the from and reply to addresses.

I will have to see if I have any record of the original change I made, I think it may have been a line in Mercury.ini but I have not found it yet.

The odd thisng is that all the settings in the user's Pegasus appear to be correct.

I seem to recall that a couple of years ago I did something to force the from and reply to addresses for all users to be newddress.com instead of address.co.uk.  I cannot seem to find out what I did and at least one user is showing their reply to and from address as address.co.uk. Which understandably annoys our new owners.

I have done a search in the user's email folder, his local Pegasus folder and in the mercury folder and I cannot find where his system is getting the old address from.

Any ideas?  Better yet is there something I can do in Mercury to force the from address to be  user@newaddress.com

A policy or a daemon can change the contents of a message, such as replace parts of From and Return-path headers. I don't know if there already is such a tool around though.

Search for a section REWRITE in the Mercury.ini (or maybe help). Don't know how to do it via menue.

The REWRITE option (described here: http://community.pmail.com/forums/thread/22614.aspx) can be very useful, but it will as I understand it only modify the SMTP recipient, not the sender information in the message headers.

Hmm ... I can't find any description in help or manuals for the REWRITE and how it's used in Mercury/32.

But found something in the old MGUIDE.EXE for Mercury/NLM :-)

A REWRITE will rewrite the domainsection of the SMTP senders address ... but only in the envelope, not in the message headers of the mail. So that won't help Chris.

Sorry    Olaf
