Unfortunately not.  Pegasus Mail stores configuration files in the same directory  as the mail data.  These configuration files are not useful to different instances of Pegasus Mail except under very limited circumstances.  They will cause problems otherwise.

As mentioned previously, the white paper located at http://community.pmail.com/forums/thread/41693.aspx is a guide for accomplishing exactly what you need.

I have just installed a new hard drive in my computer and installed Windows 7 pro.

The original hard drive with Windows XP pro is now the second drive with all the files.

I have done a new install of Pegasus mail and I would like to copy the old Pegasus mail folder to the

new C drive and have Pegasus use it. I'm using the change mailbox location steps from

Tools>Options>Mailbox location, but nothing works. I am clicking the change now button.

I just want to get my old mail into the new drive and get the new Pegasus install to use it.

You want messages and message folders only and not rest from the old XP install.

Make sure you install winpm-32 to c:\pmail location on the Win 7 machine and no other.

With folder manager window in foreground use add mailbox to list pointed to old drive and home  and new mail box location and your old messages should be visible and useable and then you can copy old messages to new messages or messages folders on the new win 7 install.

Refer to http://www.vandenbogaerde.net/pegasusmail/pf_pmfiles.html

Han's list of files and locations to dertermine what you may need to copy from old install but do not include anything else or anything containing XP path information since it will not work or win7 install unless both  installs are to c:\pmail locations only and even so some executables or AV software my use different name for the 64bit version for win7-64 system.

There is a white paper about mailbox files in the Pegasus Mail FAQ forum that you might find useful.

I am totally lost. Do I need to know all the file extensions.

All I want to do is have the new Pegasus use the old Pegasus database.

Is there no way to do something like a copy of the old location data and

paste it into the new default mailbox location.

You only need to know the file extensions you need.

New mail consists of single files with the extension CNM. Mail folders are file pairs with the extensions PMI and PMM.
