PDF viewing broke for me fairly recently with the type unknown error.

I checked the Content Viewer and PDF wasn't listed. So I added it and even though Pegasus still says type unknown, clicking on open now works as it used to.

Mostly, the file type extensions declared in the Options > Incoming Mail > Content Viewers section work.  One exception seems to be the .pdf extension, which is always shown as "Type unknown" in the attachment list of an incoming email.

I've double-checked the spelling, the application path+name, etc, etc and there is nothing wrong.

Any ideas why this should be?

To the mime-map.pm file in C:\PMAIL add: application/pdf = Acrobat

Thank you for this tip - works perfectly.

What I don't understand is what makes .pdf different from all the other file types that don't seem to need an equivalent entry in mime-map.pdf.  For example, .doc/x .xls/x and .jpg files all open perfectly with the application defined in Options > Incoming Mail > Content Viewers  without the need for a mime-map.pm entry.  Just interested to know how this works.
