Problem sending email to more than 100 Recipients

Sounds like a security mechanism to prevent spamming. The connection is closed after 100 recipients by your ISP. I would get in touch with their support desk and ask whether they could increase this limit. Sometimes you have to pay for it a monthly fee...

For some reason I am unable to send a single email to more than 100 recipients via Mercury SMTP Server with Thunderbird email client.  I am NOT getting a "too many recipients" error from the server, rather, the connection just suddenly closes when the 101th email address is sent to the server.  I can't find any recipient limitation settings within Thunderbird (or Mercury) so I'm puzzled.  The only thing I could think of was the ISP that is hosting our server was somehow filtering it but the same thing happens when using a VPN.

 Any ideas?

Mercury can either send via a relay using MercuryC or direct using MercuryE.  Which module are you using?

I am guessing you are using MercuryC and that the SMTP relay provider has a limit.  To confirm this, get in touch with their support or run again with session logging switched on and see what response you are getting from the relay.

I'm using MercuryE, but it's not even getting to the point of relaying.  The connection is closing prematurely in MercuryS at the moment the 101st email address is sent to the server by the client with no error messages, just an abrupt "Connection closed".

Looking at the session log for MercuryS I'm seeing this:

23:07:02.562: << 250 Recipient OK - send RCPT or DATA.<cr><lf>

23:07:03.156: 7: NB Socket read error 10054 (connection aborted by remote host)

23:07:03.156: --- Connection closed normally at Mon Sep 15 23:07:03 2014. ---

23:07:03.156:

So I'm guessing this problem isn't Mercury's fault.  I'm still at a loss though since I can't find anything about Thunderbird causing a problem like this.

Is that the 101st '250 Recipient OK' message?

Try increasing the TCP/IP timeout value, although I agree it seems like the client just disconnects.
