Pmail User Doc

bfluet, thank you so much for your quick response! I am something of a nerd so I'll probably get fairly proficient with it in time. As long as the doc isn't going to steer me wrong I'm good. I'll start a folder here in Firefox for Pmail links. I may also want to use it on Linux systems.

Hi, folks! I've been using Eudora forever and found the 1.0 Open Source Edition quite a while ago. It seems no one is working on it these days and while it works ok, it has issues that are not being addressed.

I tried Pmail YEARS ago, but found it too complex for my needs; now that it's more 'mature' I'm going to try it again.

My download selection was 4.74 for Windows thru Vista with the disclaimer that it should run on W7. My downloaded installer is named 'w32-470.exe', however. Is this correct?

Also the latest manual is for 4.41 - any significant differences?

v4.70 was released to address the need for a more current SSL implementation.  It also included a new dictionary and some other tweaks.  See here for details:  http://www.pmail.com/v47x.htm

The manual included with the download was not updated to include references to these changes.

As for Pegasus Mail being complex, it is. That is what makes it so capable and flexible.  I don't believe is is overly complex for a single user/single mailbox implementation.  The complexity comes in when you get into the more advanced capabilities like multiple users, multiple identies, mail filtering, etc.  This forum is a great source for simplifying anything that appears complex, for clarifications about configuration options, and for answers to program behavior questions.
