Pegasus hijacked

In Windows Explorer, navigate to the Pegasus Mail NewMail dir. This coulsd be either c:\pmail\mail or c:\pmail\mail\username, and then search for files with extension of PMW or PMX. These will be messages waiting to be mailed out.   Move them temporarily out of the current directory. Then restart Pegasus Mail.

Preferably in Pegasus Mail select menu File/Review Queued Mail... to see if there actually are any messages queued. For any such messages select one at a time and click the Open button to view their content in the editor. Fix and save any that appear damaged or missing important fields such a Subject.

I was running Pegasus 4.63 (without problems for two years) when I ill-advisedly downloaded a program which claimed to be able to fix a recurring freezing mouse problem.  Not only did it not work, but when I went to send an e-mail a couple of hours later, I got this message:

Invalid Address

'NBJKL.P-0-' is not a valid address: please correct it and select 'Send'again.

(Your message has not been sent)

The address was not invalid, I was using Reply and this is a regular correspondent.  Anyway, it hardly matters as it does this with any address, whether I type it in or use Reply.

I uninstalled 4.63 after backing up my mail files, then downloaded and installed 4.70, moved my mail to the MAIL directory and reopened Pegasus.  It still does the same thing.  Clearly, a file within the MAIL directory contains this information. Also when I try to shut down, it tells me that there are messages waiting to be sent and there are none.

Can anyone tell me what I have to gank to stifle this annoying piece of trash?

Thanks,

Michel

P.S.: Mouse still not fixed, but hopeful.
