Sending Speed in Local network (SMTP)

Try checking the log files for MercuryS (the SMTP server module) and Mercury core. You should be able to determine if the delay happens during the SMTP transfer or when the message is handled by the core process (where content control, SpamHalter and ClamWall are part of the equation). If we know it's in the SMTP transfer part you could then try temporarily switching on session logging while sending the same message one more time. If there are indications of problems in the log, like long delays at some point or error messages, that will show us where to look further. If not it's most likely a pure networking or antivirus software issue.

Hi, hope someone can help me:

I reinstalled my Mercury server on e new machine. Everything works great just one problem:

Before, when i send a mail with a lagre attachment it was sent to the Mailserver (in the same local network) with local network speed - realy fast.

But now sending is very slow, it seems the mail is sending to the local server via the internet.

What did i wrong?

Thx for your help!

Difficult to say with such limited information. I assume the new server has sufficient resources, but check network interfaces and disks for hardware errors just in case. There could be some routing problem in the LAN, or some antimalware software that is interfering. Check settings in the email client to make sure it matches the new server. ClamWall or SpamHalter could cause delays if there is some major configuration error. Try turning off all daemons to eliminate that possibility.

If you provide more details it might be possible to give more exact advice.

Sorry, it's not easy to explain such problems in a foreign language :-)

I am just talking about the way of mails from my PC to the mailserver in our local network (SMTP). When i send a mail with an attachment it takes much longer as usual as in a 1 Gbit/s local network.

Before i moved mercury to the new (faster) machine it takes just seconds. So i fear i did anything wwrong in the setup - but what?  Clould it be the local domain settings?

Net local network works prefectly with tot speeds. I think mercury does not"know" that the mail is coming from a local machine.

Is the slowness noticed from the time the message is sent to the time it is received in the destination mailbox?

Do you see similar slowness in the sending of messages without attachments?

Is the queue directory excluded from active scanning by your anti-malware product?

Are you using Pegasus Mail as the email client for all local users?

If so, is your configuration such that Mercury is processing local mail? (Is the 'Force all mail through' option in the user defined gateway set to Yes?)
