Encryption connection with Blackberry

I am trying to help a co-worker IMAP connect to the office Mercury v4.74 server and find that the only way it will connect is with encryption turned off. Connection attempts fail when either SSL or TLS is selected. Other co-workers authenticate with TLS using iDevices and Outlook . Do I need v4.8? Any other thoughts?

The Blackberry email client is most likely not compatible with the old encryption library used in Mercury v4.74, so you probably need to upgrade to v4.80 (with current OpenSSL) to make it work. Another possible explanation would be that the Blackberry won't accept self-signed certificates.
