Thought 1: The setting you refer will not affect a message that you are already working on. It becomes effective in the next message editor window that is opened.

I am using pmail 4.70. All my outgoing messages are automatically formatted to 61 characters in length. I have tried changing the "message width" setting under tools->message formatting, but no matter hos small or long the value I enter, the message lines are still no longer (or shorter) than 61 characters. Am I missing something?
