Frequent need to rebuild index of copy to self folder

I am experiencing the frequent need to rebuild the index of the copy to self folder. What's wrong? How can I deal with it?

The easiest solution might be to create a new Copies to self folder.

Steps would be:

1. Rename the existing copies to self folder

2. Create a new Copies to self folder

3. Go to Tools > Options > Outgoing mail > Copies to self ('outbox') and use the "Select folder" button to select the newly created folder as the default Copies to self folder.

4. Test the copy to self function

Once everything is working you can copy the messages from the renamed Copies to self folder to the new Copies to self folder and delete the renamed folder.

You may also wish to check the size of the 'Copy to Self' folder. If close to the 2gb file size limit Windows can start acting up. Also turn off the antivirus check for the Pegasus folder if possible as a test.

That's a great idea! One hitch, though. I renamed the Copies to Self to Old.Copies to Self. When I created a new Copies to Self folder is it now alphabetized with all other folders. I would like to have it just below the New Mail folder. When I try moving it, it just stays in the alphabetical order.

... or rename it to "_Copies to self".  The underscore character will sort it to the top.

A restart is not be required for copies to self to go to the newly selected copies to self folder, at least it wasn't in my tests.  You may have an autofilter on the old copies to self folder that is affecting the behavior.  To check this, open the folder list window and with it active select Folder > Manage Autofilter folders or right click on any folder and select Autofiltering > Manager Autofilter folders.

Aderoy makes a good point about the 2GB size limit.  Be sure to check that.

I just found this pertinent thread

Moving all copies to self messages to a temporary folder then deleting the existing copyself file pair and copying in the default pair sounds like the best option for obtaining default behavior.

My Copies to Self Folder has only 104 messaages and is way below 2GB.

What I'm finding is that simply renaming Copies to Self in the folder view doesn't change any behavior. And when I renamed the files COPYSELF.PMM & COPYSELF.PMI, Pegasus created a new Copies to Self folder that was empty. But when I sent test mail it didn't got into the Copies to Self as I expected (wanted) it to.

I then restored COPYSELF.PMM & COPYSELF.PMI that I have saved separately from the Pmail folder Copies to Self seems to be working ok. But I don't yet know whether the indexing problem has been resolved.
