Pegasus Mail 4.70 not closing properly

Best practice is to exclude the mailbox directories from any sort of active monitoring, whether by an AV product or a product like CCleaner.  They can interfere with the routine file updating that Pegasus Mail does.  The mailbox directories can be included in on-demand or scheduled scans that are run at low usage times.

I am using Pegasus 4.70 on my Windows 7 machine. This problem started about two weeks ago. When I close  Pegasus Mail it does not close properly. After I close it. I am unable to open it again until I go to "Task Manager" and close the two or more processes that are still left there. Then when it does open, it is locked. I unlock it and everything is fine until I closed it again, then I start the process over again.

This is very frustrating. I have used Pegasus now since 1993...and love it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue...PLEASE?? !!!

Thank you,

It sounds like Pegasus Mail can no longer update its files during close.  Ruling out interference by an AV product was the first step.  Now check your permission to the mailbox directory.  You should have full control to \MAIL and all subdirectories.

Is "winpm-32.exe" one of the processes that you kill via task manager?

How long have you waited after closing Pegasus Mail before killing tasks?

Have you restarted your PC?

Brian Thanks for your help on this. Yes "winpm-32.exe" is the process I am killing. Since your last message, I have updated CCleaner and stopped it from monitoring my system and guess what...no more problems with Pegasus Mail. I will run this configuration and see how it does. Seems like CCleaner went bonkers. Well again thanks to the Pegasus team your help. I look forward to Pegasus Mail version 5.
