Problem with microsoft office attachments

Go into menu tools/Incoming mail/Content viewers   You should have an entry for both of these filetypes.  If not add one. If you don't have MS Office installed I suggest you install LibreOffice and associate Scalc.exe with spreadsheet for XLSX  and Swriter for Docx

Alternatively get the Microsoft file viewers XLS at  https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=10

and for DOC get https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=4

If you are feeling very brave just associate these filetypes with your PKZip (or equiv) and extract the Doc or XLS files from within the zip.

Hello!

During the last month I encountered a strange problem. When sending attachment of MS Office Word (docx) or Excel (xlsx) files, some recipients cannot open the file. With other this works without a problem. The problem occurs only with these filetypes, not with e.g. with pdf files. Can this depend on the 4 digit file extension? Is this problem connected to pegaus how it handles attachments?

Any help is appreciated.

Best wishes

Hi,

We are using Pmail since couple of years and have to send MS Office files as attachments every day. Until now we didn't experience any problems with those new file formats (docx, xlsx). May be the recipient has an old Office Suite (before Office 2007) which is not able to open those new Office formats.

Cheers

Joerg
