Can't send or receive email in Pegasus mail.

Check the download controls settings in the POP3 host configuration.

The option to delete mail on the server is in the General tab.  I don't suggest enabling that yet but you may wish to at some point.

The option to download only unread mail (mail not previously downloaded) is in the Download controls tab.  You want this one enabled otherwise you keep downloading the same messages.  There are other options here that are worth being aware of but not required for normal operation.

As for the IMAP SSL error, in the Security tab of the IMAP profile is a setting called "Only use SSLv3..."; make sure is is not ticked.

Gmail recommends IMAP though works with POP3.  IMAP leaves mail on the server until you explicitly delete it (local copies are cached if you chose) whereas POP3 downloads the messages to your local mailbox and provides the option to automatically delete them from the server.

I have been using PMAIL for years and have loved it. My computer died and I reinstalled PMAIL 4.7 on my new computer (win 10).

I copied the Admin folders over so I wouldn't lose current emails and folder structure (and I can ahppily see them in my PMAIL when i open it..

HOWEVER. I have been trying for days to receive emails and send emails. I have followed several sites instructions to set up for Imap but nothing seems to work, despite the different suggestions. I keep getting this type of error.

I am using a second  level for security for gmail but last time i just had to substitute the gmail supplied 16 digit password to get around that.

It doesn't seem to matter if i put my email address or user name. or simply my gmail password or the 16 digit one. I have tried all kinds of combinations but there's something i am missing.

I have a lot of logs because I have tried different things, one log looks like this (very similar to the one above)

Presumably you have tried resetting the password. If so does the error repeat, i.e. is the incorrect password still shown in the log?

I note that there is a Gmail facility to manage 2 step authentication, which seemingly provides for application specific passwords. Have you looked at that?

Slim, my suggestion is to create either a new POP3 host or a new IMAP profile rather than using the one from the old system.  Using the old one "should" work but in situations like this I think it is best to just start from scratch.  I also suggest obtaining a new application specific password from Google to make sure you don't have an error in the one you are using.

Thank you for your help. It's good news on one level

I had tried that. I will again,

I Just deleted all profiles and started from scratch. now it seems to be working except it's downloading 300 emails, some of which are very old.

tried "receive mail" again and it's downloading over 300 mail messages AGAIN.

No error this time but i did notice it's not downloading files in the "inbox" from gmail?

Yes thank you I did try that.

Today I got rid of iMAP and two step verification to see if i can get some emails

I can using just pop setting in gmali, but i keep getting over 300 old emails - sometimes the same ones- BUT nothing from the gmail "inbox"

I'm about to dump PMAIL and just work with gmail because I have wasted over a day on this. Which is a pity because I quite like it.
