Cannot uninstall

[quote user="Michael Robertson"]I am trying to uninstall Pegasus Mail 4.63.  The program is not listed in the Control Panel Add/Install selections.  I can't find an unins000.dat file listed for Pegasus Mail.  I am using Windows XP Pro, SP3.

Its probably a bit late now, but a simple solution is to run the installer. The program should then show up in Add/Remove Programs.

Pegasus Mail is a portable app (sort of) so your installation could have been copied from a previous machine which would explain why you don't not have an entry in the add/remove programs list.  Be aware that your add/remove programs list might contain an entry for IERenderer if

you ever upgraded it.  It has a name of "Pegasus Mail HTML Renderer x.x.x.x" so should be obvious (x's are version number).

To remove Pegasus Mail first uninstall IERenderer via the add/remove list if it is there and then delete all files associated with Pegasus Mail.  By default the programs files are installed in C:\PMAIL\PROGRAMS and the configuration and mail data files are in subdirectories of C:\PMAIL\MAIL.  YMMV depending on whether default locations were followed when the program was originally installed.  If you need to find the locations do a system search for "winpm-32.exe" to locate the programs directory and "pmail.ini" to locate the mailbox directory(ies).

Pegasus Mail doesn't create a bunch of registry entries so IMHO cleaning

them up isn't worth the risk of hosing the registry but if you chose to pursue you do so at your own risk.

Here is what I know...

Persistent info associated with the last run of Pegasus Mail is stored under:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Pegasus Mail

The following key gets created during installation and possibly when SETPMDEFAULT is run even if the installer was not:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Pegasus Mail]

Entries associated with wsendto are under this key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\WSendToURL]
