Is this address displayed as a formed E-Mail address, green & underlined on my screen YMMV ?

 If so then right click > save to clipboard > open Dlist ("F6") > search (paste from clipboard)

there is probably a better way but tiis does work

Sorry for the delay. We're trying to figure out when this problem does and does not crop up.  Apparently messages from mail.ru are now coming through correctly. I have to find out if my mother-in-law in Russia can send messages via the Russian version of Outlook, but she's in the village on holiday.  As soon as I can get her to send a message, I'll be able to give an update.

Good evening !

Thank you very much for this quick answer. You saved me a lot of trouble and time. Maybe this link could be inserted into a sticky post for everyone to see ?

Best !

I wish there was a simple button that would strip out all the graphics within an e-mail when I go to save or move it to a folder.  I have more and more e-mails that have graphic fillers that do not need to be in my archive.  If it had preselected file extensions to strip this would be even better.

pmuser hit it on the head.

I want to do backups but have to deal with scattered files.  Moving MAIL to my documents allows for less schattering.  Multiuser mode is not an issue for me but I understand it will be for others should you do this.  I have no suggestions as to how to remedy the multiuser issue other than not relying on the MAIL subdirectory to provide for the multiusers subdirectories into the future. Perhaps a file in the program files/pmail that determines mulit/solo info and directs accordingly.

I do want to move my MAIL file though with minimal difficulty.

It would also get ya to fix that Easter Egg problem that you mentioned  :-)

It takes me to <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> </p><p> <w:WordDocument> </p><p> <w:View>Normal</w:View> </p><p> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> </p><p> <w:PunctuationKerning/> </p><p> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> </p><p> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> </p><p> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> </p><p> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> </p><p> <w:Compatibility> </p><p> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> </p><p> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> </p><p> <w:ApplyBreakingRules/> </p><p> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> </p><p> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> </p><p> <w:DontGrowAutofit/> </p><p> </w:Compatibility> </p><p> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </p><p> </w:WordDocument> </p><p></xml><![endif]-->http://community.pmail.com/

I then need to find and click on the "forum" button

Wait for the page to load

Then scroll down, find and click on the "Pegasus Mail Community Support" link

I think that the link would be more useful if it went directly to:

Pegasus Mail Community Support

The perfect forum for discussions or technical questions about Pegasus Mail.

This is a really good and nice and useful community.  I'm grateful to have access to it.

Hello!
Hi,

How can I avoid such a chunk of attachment info (below) being included -- it confuses some people -- and why is the type "unknown"? There's no place I can see to set the file type when I insert the GIF in the signature. thanks!

The following section of this message contains a file attachment
prepared for transmission using the Internet MIME message format.
If you are using Pegasus Mail, or any other MIME-compliant system,
you should be able to save it or view it from within your mailer.
If you cannot, please ask your system administrator for assistance.

---- File information -----------
File: logo.gif
Date: 13 Oct 1998, 18:56
Size: 950 bytes.
Type: Unknown
Go to "Tools" | "Options" | "Outgoing mail" | "Sending mail" where you find a section titled "Advanced settings". Make sure that the option "Don't add 'attachment information' sections to Multipart messages" is checked.

Hi !

Well, maybe this will surprise you, but I am far from being an experienced user of Pegasus Mail (and there are several posts here to prove this claim [:)]). I discovered it two weeks before its end was announced. This strange feature was a bit annoying in the beginning, but weighted against the tremendous power of the rest of the features of the program, it became really something minor. However, as I said, I will write (or try) to Microsoft and we will see what happens. Right now, I do not have the time. Also, if there is anyone here on this forum who has any connection with a tech guy working for Microsoft, please come forward. Yes, so to get back to the subject, this something bothering, but you get use to it pretty fast. Similarly, there is another strange behaviour when you open the filter page, you have to wait quite a bit of time to have the side moving rectangle. Is there a way to fix this ?

Bye !

Ginhead.

I'm using version 4.5 and it's still a pain to use bcc in conjunction with to and cc.  It shouldn't be this hard.

 This message provided to motivate David to working 28 hours per day in place of the slovenly 26 hours per day.

 Cheers!

May not be relevant - but after 'From' on my outgoing messages and after 'To' on replies the word 'search' now appears.  Don't know how or why!  Would love to be able to rectify error as some of my messages are now being deleted by recipients as a consequence!  Any ideas?

I understand that Pegasus mail is not loaded all inside memory.

But pleaase consider situation, when you have pegasus mail installed locally and you have remote mailbox.

I do not remember other application that silly exits with general protection fault during network unplug. May be that the crashing place might be located and there might be displayed some message box that asks user abort application/retry or something like this.

Every defined way how application finishes is much more better than GPF.

Without source code (and even with it) it is difficult to say more.

Anyway it is practically impossible to have network without faults. Somebody reconnects cables in a rack, somebody kicks to a cable etc .... First thing that I am noting is Pmail's GPF ..

Hello there,

Pegasus Mail already has an external interface. It is defined in the Extensions toolkit available on this website under Download/Pegasus Mail/ Add-ons. A new interface model will be coming out which will define more access to internal objects.

Also if you are more familiar with VBA, you could consider programming using DDE to communicate with Pegasus Mail from another application program.

There will be a VBA code snippet available (in the downloads area) this weekend to show how MS Word can use Pegasus Mail as its mailer

Is it anything to do with what you actually put in the "My internet email address is:" box? For example I have my email address, plain and simple, with no embellisments (i.e. no name, no < or > round it). However when I receive email it normally has either "John McCabe <my email address>" or just "<my email address>". Is Pegasus clever enough to strip the email address out of strings like these before comparing it against the "My internet email address is:" box contents, or does it just compare the whole string?

 If I was to put "John McCabe <my email address>" in the "My internet..." box would it work?

My bad, I was thinking of the Mercury plugin version which is what I typically use (I used it long before the Pegasus version was added so I've stuck with it).  I'm surprised the Pmail version doesn't include this feature...

My first question is maybe a little stupid, but how do you know when a folder is open or closed ? It is only for trays that we can see if it is open or close, at least for me so far.

Thanks !

Ginhead.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.  I have been out of town without the puter for several weeks.  Talk about TORTURE!!

Anyway, if you have not found a solution to this yet I hope this will work for you.  On the left side of the main pmail window you have a list of folders, one of which is the "New Mail" folder.  If you have installed the new mail filtering rule (I think you want the expression filter) to be applied when folder is closed you simply double click the "new mail" folder and it will open displaying all the messages within.  Now, when you close it all the "apply when folder is closed" rules will activate.  I think this should work for you or perhaps I am not exactly clear on what you're trying to do.

I installed Thunderbird, sent a mail to myself using that control on Thunderbird's toolbar, then looked at the source.

They use align="justify"
PM could do the same in the <div> tag that it uses.  (Personally, I think the effect is little different from left alignment to the recipient - and it is they who govern the size and proportions of the viewing area.)
Yes, with Thunderbird, they put that on a div.

I agree that it looks similar if that's all you do. Of course, if you use a more elaborate structure with either tables or CSS--which you would do outside the mail client's own composer--you could produce designs where it did make a difference. And you could certainly come up with designs where the size of the window doesn't matter.

Here's an example:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html lang="en">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<title></title>
</head>
<body>
<div style="text-align:center">
<div style="margin: 1em auto; width: 80%; border: 1px solid #000; padding: 2em; background-color: #ddd; text-align: justify;">
<h1>Heading</h1>
</div>
</div>
</body>
</html>

Adapted from here:

http://www.maxdesign.com.au/presentation/center/02.htm

He's using [mis-using?] text-align to align the box, but the text is left-aligned. I've made the text justified and increased the margin so that it stands out. (I put the CSS inline, because that's generally better for email clients.) That's a flexible design.

If you don't know HTML, you can do this is a WYSIWYG tool. I'd suggest you might like to try NVU, which is free:

http://www.nvu.com/index.php

If you're really after a designed email, that would be the way to go.
That seems like good advice for those that want advanced HTML email.
HTML email is still a bit hit-and-miss, because not everything supports everything, and webmail is another complicating factor:

http://www.anandgraves.com/html-email-guide

I still use plain text myself mostly, but I guess HTML mail is nice for people sending out newsletters and so on.

I use ctl-x frequently.  Please don't eliminate it!

As far as quickly navigating to a given folder, the folder window automatically has this built in, doesn't it?  If I have 4000 folders and only one of them starts with a "z", if I type a "z" while in the folder window, the focus immediately moves to that one folder.

It works on multiple characters, too, so if I want to move to the "music" folder, I start typing the word "music" and the focus will be moved to the "music" folder long before I've finished the word.

But, while we are in the process of asking for improvements..... the folder search function seems to ignore anything other than regular characters.  Spaces, exclamation points, and other valid characters within the name of the folder don't seem to cause the focus to shift.  Of course, I could just be a few versions behind (I'm still on 3.12c), but I'd upgrade in a second if folder search allows non-regular characters.

I'm willing to help you here some how (where I can) if you wish...
