Spell Checker

Just wondering if any improvements been made in the spell checker process. when i asked the question several months ago, I believe someone said there were bugs they were trying to work out. I had mentioned mine wasn't working like it used to. Before it automatically detected misspelled words and i was able to correct. I'm using version 4.73 as i had various problems (other than spellchecker) with the latest version and had to drop down so maybe the later version has it corrected.

Thanks for the help as usual
Danny

We know that in v4.80 the user words dictionary was being cleared each time the spell checker was invoked. That has been fixed in the 4.81 beta. AFAIK, there have not been any other changes to the spell checker.

Have you addressed these suggestion made in the previous conversations?

  1. Solved your correct-as-you-type desire by enabling autoreplacement?
  2. Confirmed that the appropriate dictionary is selected in the spell checker configuration?
  3. Confirmed that the dictionary files are intact? The \PMAIL\Programs\Dict directory should contain the follow (confirm date/time stamp & filesize) (Sorry that I can't figure out a way to format this as a table for easier reading):

Might want to check your USRDICT5.PMD file.
With version 4.80 this file was getting reset to blank, so any words that had been added to correct would no longer work. If the file is empty, you might want to see if you have a backup of the USRDICT5.PMD file, or might have a previous file like USRDICT3.PMD.

Note sure when the name was changed. I had a backup, but think difference between my USRDICT3.PMD and USRDICT5.PMD was just a couple words.

As a little additional info. Found that LibreOffice has newer dictionary files.
Format is a little different than the ones in Pegasus, but generally have much newer dates, and in very little testing with english version only seems to work for me? Some of the names were not exact matches, but tired to find closest names for listed ones.
DICTS.exe was a 7z self extracting file that has all of them.
git has the link to loctions. Note: put space after https since it tried to make a link.

It just came to my mind that, other than the personal dictionary file problem, the spell checker in v4.73 and v4.80 are the same AFAIK (dictionary files are the same). This raises the question of why does reverting to 4.73 change the spell checker behavior, unless the only problem in 4.80 is with the personal dictionary file.

One more thought... In the 'Settings' of the spell checker is the option "Commence checking automatically". Make sure it is enabled.

Perhaps also check tools and autoformatting setting.
Make sure it is checked and list the misspellings to autocorrect.
should be autorplc.pm that has list of words and replacements.
