Hello Thomas,

Many thanks for your help.

ineuw

I am a novice (and completely ignorant) to email setups and thus, I am encountering a host of problems. The following is my 1st concern. I received a message that SMTP Mail was rejected with dynamic IP address (not the exact words).

I have a domain name from no-ip.com service, I have set up Mercury as my mail server on my home computer and installed Pegasus as my mail client. So far, it is not working, so any advice or direction is welcome.

You probably need to be a bit more specific if you want help. Generally speaking, start by using one product, then isolate problem finding/solving down to one direction (inbound mail or outbound mail). Since you posted this in the Mercury forum, lets start by getting your installation of Mercury up and running.

What version of Mercury?
What OS?
Are you behind a NAT router of some kind?
You say you can receive mail - yes?
But you can't send out?
Which modules of Mercury do you use?

Thanks for the reply.

I am using Mercury 32 v4.52 and Windows XP SP2 and I am not behind any firewall or a router.

I mailed to this account from my google and from my ISP provided mail service and both came through to pegasus. Both emails were accompanied by a number of blank messages indicating unknown receipient and unknown senders.

When I try to send mail from Pegasus, I get a delivery failure notification.

The message body contains the following:

With reference to your message with the subject:
"Test 3"

The local mail transport system has reported the following problems
it encountered while trying to deliver your message:

-------------------------------------------------------------------
*** ineuw@xxxxx.ca
553 Dynamic IP Addresses See: http://www.sorbs.net/lookup.shtml?xx.xx.xxx.xx
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Your mail message is being returned to you in the next part of this message.

Should you need assistance, please mail postmaster@xxxxxxx.com.

Pegasus also sends the following error message:

15: Peer connect failure (the host has refused the connection). (POP3)

When I installed Mercury, I selected all modules.

Thanks

Since you have a randomly assigned IP address you are going to be rejected by many sites using the DUL type blacklist. You need to use MercuryC and send the mail via your ISP's SMTP host.
