Mailing List From ?

Further to Peter's reply, here is what the Mercury help file says about list title and the From: field:

List title  Every list must have a title -- a descriptive name that Mercury will use to form the "from" field of messages sent to the list. Try to keep the title short and descriptive and avoid international or accented characters. On rare occasions, you may wish to include address details as part of the title (Mercury usually adds the proper address to the list title automatically): in this case, you should ensure that the address you enter conforms to RFC822 addressing rules and includes a fully-qualified domain address appropriate for the list, then check the control labelled Is a full address next to the list title. NOTE: This feature is extremely specialised and is not normally required; because it can cause problems with mail delivery, we recommend that you only use it if you are very sure of what you are doing.

We're progressing with our new Mercury 32 install and if all works we will be purchasing the licenses soon. We believe we are almost done evaluating but have run into an issue. We have Mercury 32 configured to support mailing lists and is only used a SMTP server. The server is configured to support multiple domains and has alias and mail lists configured. Mail is working to each mailing list configured. However, the FROM: for each mailing list is not what we desire. In mailing list settings, there is a title that I have entered, however this seems to be ignored. All email from all mail lists are going out to recipient with a FROM of the internet name of the system. Since the server is supporting multiple domains, I want each mailing list to be from the respective domain. I am not sure where I'm missing something. Ideas?

Thanks,

Travis Wineinger

You need to configure a proper address. Have a look at lists.mer, and it should read something like:

sample

File: D:\mail\Lists\sample.lst

Title: list full name <SAMPLEFROM@SOMEDOMAIN.COM>

Title_is_address: Y
