Cannot Receive - Have still been able to send

[quote user="Cherylez"]

OK...it seems to have "magically" started receiving again...but I did learn it is not sending anymore.  I have attempted several tests...and they never show up.

I did try a telnet port to 110...and it never returns a thing.  In fact the window just closes upon running the command.

Is the ' after the domain required?

Sorry, that was a typo on my part, the ' is neither required nor desired.  However, when testing sending you need to go into port 25.  There is also the possibility that your ISP requires authentication and is acting as a user agent on port 587.  You really need to talk to your ISP and ask them specifically what you need top be doing since this sounds like your ISP has changed things.

I am so frustrated...for the past week I have been unable to Check for New Mail host.  With several identities this has become a major problem...as I need to use webmail.

I did  select the Network Configuration for advanced diagnostics...and today when trying to connect it gave this report:

--- Mon, 15 Oct 2007 21:27:55 ---
Connect to 'mail.mlm-dra.org' port 110, timeout 100000.
21:27:57.841 [*] Connection established to 216.180.225.178
16:58:26.855 << 0006 QUIT\0D\0A
16:58:26.855 9: Socket write error 276D.
16:58:26.855 11: Close error??! (276D).

Now I WAS also trying to send an email and I'm wondering even though it said message sent successfully and is in my sent email (and it was a blink of an eye) if this report isn't coming from the sent?  And now that's down?

It also does not respond to Selective Mail Download.  It just refuses to connect to receive and all my settings are correct.

I am using the latest version, I'm on WinXP and my connection is cable.

Any advice would be SO helpful.  Thanks in advance.

Stange, this is what I get.  Yours indicates that you are not even trying to make a connection; you do not get a greeting string and sent a quit after a timeout error.  BTW, 100000 is way way to large, if it does not respond in 300 seconds it never will

Of course mine fails since I do not have an account.

That should also showup in the debug file.  Are you sure you are not being blocked by a firewall?  Have you tried a telnet into port 110?

Try the following replacing the <hostname>, <username> and <password> with the information for you system.

Start | Run telnet.exe mail.mlm-dra.org' port  110

You will see something like

+OK Hello there

then enter

user <username>

and you get

+OK Password required.

then enter

pass <password>

you will see

+OK Welcome! X messages (xxxxx bytes)

If this does not work then your basic winsock/dialer system is broken and needs fixing.  Something is blocking your access to the outside world.
