There is an updated version of SendDoc (1.4) which uses Pegasus Mail as a mailer for OpenOffice, available at downloads area location:

Are there any known extensions or macros for Pegasus in OpenOffice.org?

Michael in der Wiesche created a set of macros for OpenOffice and Pegasus Mail a while ago. I'm not sure they work in the current versions, but you're welcome to try them.

The macros don't work in OO.o v2.2 because the place to enter the location of the executable is no

longer in the Tools|Options menu (It used to contain external programs, now it doesn't)

What do you exactly want to make with O.o.o and PMail ? 

If you check through this thread http://community.pmail.com/forums/thread/12267.aspx you will find a series of steps which will make Pegasus your default mail application, there are a few steps which the setup program does not do for you.  Pegasus works well with my copies of open Office both at work and at home.
