International Pegasus Mail
International spell-checking

The Hunspell spell-checker used by Firefox will be introduced to Pegasus Mail in its new version V5 later this year. Dictionarys including Hindi are available for it.

I am not sure about word direction detection, ie right-to-left rather than default left-to-right word sampling.  Information on this will bcome available closer to introduction. See http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries for dictionaries available.

Is there any interest in an extension or other method to provide non-English spell checking?  I have been working on a spellchecker that uses ISpell, a relative of the well known ASpell. It comes with multiple languages and user custom dictionary support.

Languages supported are listed at:

Hello Martin,

I'm very interested in a Dutch spellchecker and with me - I think - a lot of Dutch Pegasus Mail-users too.
A good initiative Martin.

I assume, that also the german Pegasus Mail users would like a spell-checker.

Great idea Martin!

I am very interested in having non-english spell-checking in Pegasus Mail. Especially German, French and Portuguese. Some friends did not stay with Pegasus Mail because of the missing spell checker. It would be perfect to have on-the-fly spell checking as an option.

Thanks for your efforts!

Johannes

I would like tho have a Dutch spellchecker and a dutch translation. I have been asking David and others to make work of it. Two years ago I mentioned http://www.opentaal.org/index.php to Phons and hoped he could/would do something with it. I also see much users leave Pmail because there isn't a Dutch translantion. At our school we are switching to Groupwise because Pmail isn't dutch. So please hurry. I hope David will go public with version 4.5 soon and the translation can begin.

I have an operational version right now, but it has to use the clipboard as I don't have an interface with Pegasus Mail and TER.   I am using articles from this forum as my test streams as well as the Url supplied above.  I will make it available for initial testing shortly, from my website.

I'd like a Dutch spellchecker. In fact I'm waiting for it for some years now.

Greetings,

Joop

I think a Dutch spell-checker is of the essence to increase the popularity of PMail in the Netherlands

Dag Frank,

Ik zag je berichtje en inmiddels is er een NL spellingcontrole voor Pegasus Mail

I have now put in place some international dictionaries, and the small application called TinySpell. Though this application is not bound to Pegasus Mail, it can be used quite efficiently to check message compositions. The dictionaries and the application are located in http://community.pmail.com/files/folders/languages/  A user dictionary can be used for additional things like technical words and less frequently used words.  8-bit accented words are processed with or without the accented characters.

Please note this solution is not associated with Pegasus Mail and can be used for any purpose when wanting spellchecking done. An upgrade to TinySpell can be purchased, that will allow switching between languages.  But for infrequent swiching, a simple batch job can rename the LEX and SUP files.

I am working on a version of ISpell, which is more complex and therefore less friendly for simple typo mistakes.

Lastly, please do not ask for support from the Pegasus Mail team (just me), as they are going to be busy with the new release of Pegasus Mail shortly.

Thanks!

French for me please!  :)

Will we be able to get a spelling checker that acts like the editor in Word, for instance, which underlines in red the faulty word ? (sorry for the bad english...)

The editor in TheBat! acts like this too.

By the way, the version of BearHTML available in the community files add-ons is v3.1.3 and is 4.5.5 on your own website.

What's up?

Best regards,

François

French spell-checker is already available, using the TinySpell application. You need two files from the

download Add-ons/ Language Modules area in the Community website:

French language dictionary
TinySpell spelling checker

Instead of underlining, TinySpell pops up a tiny window with the word in question.

Keying in Ctrl + ; brings up the menu of choices and actions

Bearhtml 3.1.3 is the distribution version.  Upgrades are always available at my website, but they tend to be beta versions.  Things have been changing so much recently, that there has not been a period of stability that I could say with certainty that an upgrade was 'stable'.

BTW current beta on my website is 4.6.1 !!

The beta versions on my website are small changes to address the many badly coded emails. The main new upgrade is Bearhtml 4.6.3 which matches with the new Pegasus Mail beta 4.5

It's not possible to have spellcheck already embedded, instead of installing TinySpell?

Then the users would only download their languages files...
