MALIAS.EXE doesn't work on 64-bit Servers

The 32-bit version of malias.exe was unfortunately never included in the Mercury/32 installers, even though it was intended to be. Thanks for pointing this out, Chris! It's now available as a separate download from here:

It looks like that MALIAS.EXE is a 16 bit application which can't bei run by WOW64. Are there any other tools to compile the Mercury alias file?

Regards,
Gerhard

You can have a look at the source for our mercurysynch software - it composes the alias.mer files manually from an external database.

The source is available at http://community.pmail.com/files/folders/codesnippets/entry167.aspx

MALIAS is a DOS application - I guess MS may finally have decided that they're not going to support DOS apps any more (I suppose I can't really blame them for that).

It should be trivial to recompile it as a Win32 console application, which *should* run on Win64 systems. I'll see if I can get a chance to do that today.

Cheers!

Just some more on this: I've now recompiled malias.exe as a Win32 console application. It will be a standard part of v4.5, but anyone who desperately needs a copy earlier than that can e-mail me.

Cheers!

I'm using 4.73 and it appears to still have a 16bit version of malias.

I can't find a link to download the 32bit version.

There is no 32 bit version of this program.  To run 16-bit MSDOS programs on your 64-bit Windows systems (and Linux) get a copy of DOSBox. This is quite handy to have around when you have old MSDOS utilities to run.

David's post suggests otherwise, but I was able to get malias running with dosbox and a simple script

c:

cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\DOSBox-0.74\"

dosbox -c "mount D D:\common\mercury" -c "D:" -c "malias mercury\alias.src mercury\alias.mer" -c "exit"

Works like a charm.

Thanks

Chris
