Remote-linked graphics problem

Thanks for the tip Martin.
It seems to work, no downloads in this particular mail.

Hello,

I have selected to

manually download remote-linked graphics.

However, every now and

then I receive emails that automatically dp download images in the

preview mode. Mind you, not all images are downloaded. It's just one

or two of them.

I'm using Pegasus 4.41 with Bearhtml 3.0.2.

Any idea how to prevent

this from happening?

Kind regards,

Maikel

Are you sure the ones that do get displayed automatically are remote images and not embedded images that have been sent with the email? Did you check the source to see?

Hello Mike,

Thanks for your reply. Yes I did check and also see a "Downloading" message in the Pegasus status bar.

I just checked again, to be sure. I noticed that the one that is downloaded originated from another domain as the rest of the images and doesn't seem to have an image extension.

I have copied the image tag from the mail:

<img src=3D"http://ad.nl.doubleclick.net/ad/nieuwsbrief.dqa.nl/niet=leden_Bottom;tile=3D1;sz=3D468x60;ord=3D123456789?" width=3D"468" height=3D=

Thank you. Obvious question and interesting to know the answer.

I wonder if that's relevant or not ...

Do you use a hosts file? See, e.g. Wikipedia on that.

That's not a full answer--which is beyond me--and is maybe not the answer you're looking for, but I wonder if adding

ad.nl.doubleclick.net

to a hosts file would effectively block it.

I have investigated this problem, and a fix will be available in version 3.0.3 of Bearhtml.  It is caused by the lack of a legitimate filename. The question mark tells the web server to execute a script to generate the image.   I will only allow this request to be made if fetching remote graphics is allowed/requested.

Thanks for heads up

Hello Martin,

I just installed your update and it seems to work, but I only tested it with some emails that had their images in cache.

Pegasus still reports it's getting data from the cache, but doesn't show the images.

To be really sure I will have to wait until I receive a new mail.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

You need not wait, if you clear cache (Shift + Ctrl + Y)
