Preview pdf attachments

Hi !

Well, David, this is a suggestion, but maybe you can use it : http://blog.kowalczyk.info/software/sumatrapdf/ .I think it is open source, and on top of that it is really light. The only problem is that it gives sometimes a terrible rendering. I let you to check it further for you are far more experienced than me.

Would there be any way of previewing pdf attachments within Pegasus, the way the graphic files can currently be previewed? I assume that would require an internal pdf renderer?

There is no preview of PDF files presently. You can however define an application to view an attachment type in the menu Tools / Options / Incoming Mail / Content Viewers. Just add .pdf as a file type and leave the opening to Windows application default. This will invoke Adobe Acroread. Then just be patient as Acroread starts up :-(

Or use a slim PDF reader like Foxit Reader (the basic version is for free).

Yes, it would. At a pinch, it might be possible to host an external reader using an interface like COM, but I'm afraid I simply don't know how to do that.

At the moment, though, any kind of preview requires an actual Pegasus Mail display object (this is an object defined using the interface I've spent so long converting, so the mechanism will be public before much longer).

I've known about Ghostscript for years, of course, but it's a product rather than a programming tool - it's not something (as far as I know) that exists in a simple DLL form that I could load and call. If I'm wrong on this and it DOES exist in such a form, then please let me know, but a quick glance at the site above didn't seem to suggest that.
