Is it their DNS or is it Mercuiry?

Confirmed that mx ip and not hostname that has A-records.

You can easily use: http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=go-active.co.il to check on any domain you have problems with. Their report is mostly accurate and very informative. DNS report in this case says: "MX is host name, not IP" which is somewhat misleading.

An email problem has shown up recently sending to addresses at go-active.co.il.  If I do an NSLOOKUP on this domain I get

C:\>nslookup

Default Server:  mmy

Address:  192.168.101.1

> set type=mx

> go-active.co.il

Server:  mmy

Address:  192.168.101.1

Non-authoritative answer:

go-active.co.il MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = 192.114.186.50

go-active.co.il MX preference = 5, mail exchanger = 192.114.186.51

go-active.co.il nameserver = ns.secured.co.il

go-active.co.il nameserver = ns1.secured.co.il

ns.secured.co.il        internet address = 192.115.31.16

ns1.secured.co.il       internet address = 212.25.68.218

If I do the same with the CNAME option set I get

 C:\>nslookup

Default Server:  mmy

Address:  192.168.101.1

> set type=cname

> go-active.co.il

Server:  mmy

Address:  192.168.101.1

go-active.co.il

        primary name server = ns.secured.co.il

        responsible mail addr = demo.shopy.biz

        serial  = 2006121825

        refresh = 10800 (3 hours)

        retry   = 3600 (1 hour)

        expire  = 604800 (7 days)

        default TTL = 86400 (1 day)

When mercury 451 is trying to send email to this domain I see in the MercuryE window

Resolved CN for 'go-active.co.il' to 192.114.144.116

Connecting to 192.114.144.116

Connection error.

There is no SMTP server at 192.114.144.116.  Looks to me like this domain's DNS records are a little screwed up.

Can someone confirm this?

Thank You

An MX record must not contain an IP number, so there is no correct mail handler to be found for this domain. If there is no legitimate MX the address registered for the domain itself should be used, and an NSLookUp for go-active.co.il returns 192.114.144.116. In this case there is of course no mail server present there.
