As an addendum to my reply above I have just tried to check that the Address Books have installed correctly before moving any other Win XP files - as I did for the Win 8 laptop. I transferred all the .PMR and .PM! files into C:\PMail\Mail , but the address books are still not shown in PM?
Looking at About PM/Info... the text listed is

Is there still something not quite right? Should I continue to move the xx.PMM and xx.PMI file pairs into C:\PMail\Mail and see if this allows them to appear? The only obvious difference to the same text in the Win 8 machine is the ADMIN folder in the path C:\PMail\Mail .
I cannot see the file PMAIL.USR in the Win 8 installation, is this because Win7 treats PM differently?
