If double clicked I receive the IER warning but the file does not open.
Brian, Pegasus Mail actually executes resp. loads these files and expects to see real spaces instead of encoded ones. I've now added a conversion check so it should work as expected. If you send me an email (via IERs About dialog) refering to this thread I can send you a test version.

Do you have Tools => Options => Advanced settings => Load Windows Internet Services set to Always? You should, and restart Pegasus Mail afterwards.

Hi Michael,

sure you may! [:)]  I have about 250 valid  entries in hierach.pm  and even the same number of invalid entries. It makes qwuite a diffrence at starttime. I guess Pmail seaches somewhere for the not existing folders.

But more importend is, that I need to scan the hierach.pm in order to get the proper foldername. I have pmail linked to the CRM, so that the CRM-user can directly open the cutomers mailbox from within the CRM. (The CRM patches the desktop.pm0 so that pmail at starttime opens the fiting mailbox.) Therefore I wanted to get a rid of those invalid entries.

See my

One heads up for you to be aware of.  If you are installing Pegasus Mail on a hi-res display device (1920x1080) be prepared for all Pegasus Mail system fonts to be very small.  This includes the To:, Subject: , CC: fields, address books, configuration windows & help windows.  These fonts are hard coded so are not configurable.  If using List mode, the fonts for new message contents, the message reader window, and other windows (like the folder window) are configurable.  If using Preview mode, the fonts in all three panes are configurable.

This is a how to setup a secure (SSL) connection to your outlook.com account. It has been a bit of a PITA to get it working properly so I'll share my findings with you guys

First of all. IMAP doesn't work with outlook.com yet

POP3/SSL

Server HostName: pop3.live.com

UserName: [your email]@outlook.com

Password:

TCP Port: 995

Security - Via Direct SSL connect

[X] Disable certificate validation (Shame on you Microsoft - Try WITH validation first in case MS fixed it)

SMTP/SSL

Server Host Name: smtp.live.com

TCP Port: 587

Security - Via STARTTLS

[X] Disable certificate validation (Shame on you Microsoft - Try WITH validation first in case MS fixed it)

[X] Login to the SMTP server using the following details - Same UserName and Password as POP3

Enjoy semi safe emailing (Shame on you MS x3)

Oh I forgot - First attempt to send an email will fail. MS Will send you an automated email response with a validation link challenge.

Thank's a lot, Brian, it works fine.

I can patch the Desktop.pm0 so pmail starts with desiered folder, so far.

I figuered out the needed paramerters and places/length for the fillename in Desktop.pm0,

but does anyone knows the whole correctly parameters / struktur of the file desktop.pm0?

If IE uses hardware acceleration IERenderer does as well, otherwise no. If you see this issue I might have some suggestions about special tests, so please notify me in such a case if you can live with it long enough without restarting this instance of Pegasus Mail ...
OK ... in iternet options software acceleration is NOT enabled, so IE uses hardware acceleration on my PC. Send me a mail with tests to do.
Since I'm using a notebook where I cannot disable software rendering it might be an idea for you to try without hardware accelaration? And with regard to tests: I would like you to check whether any (or multiple) IERenderer window(s) exist(s) despite of not displaying anything. You'd need a tool like for doing so (via its Tree page).

I was using Spamhalter but did not like it.  I have cleared Spamhalter of all filters.  I am just using the filter function on each message.  I have had to put the same rule into the filter on multiple occasions.  For example, a local restaurant has me on their mailing list.  I have placed their email address as a delete message.  I have had to enter the same email address about 5 times this month.

I will try your idea about color coding action.

Thanks, Bobbie

I'm running PMail v4.41 under Windows 7.
Recently, when opening the Folders window, all of the buttons at the top (New, Delete, Rename, etc) have disappeared.
I have marked the area in red where those buttons used to appear.
Your image does not appear.
Are you using the classic "List mode" or the newer "Preview" mode?
I can find no other way to create, rename or delete a folder.
If "List mode" try (when Pegasus is closed/exited)...
In Mailbox directory, make a backup of the STATE.PMJ file
e,g.
Copy STATE.PMJ STATE.BAK
Edit the STATE.PMJ file, deleting the "FClassic" entry in the [General] section
Restart Pegasus
Thanks for the help. I have 3 identities set up so I sync'ed the fonts on all. Seems to be working ok except the body of some messages appear in different fonts. Is that a result of the font being set in the original message?
Yes and they are HTML messages where font and size are set within the source code for some messages. You can increase the display size of the message from within the rendering engine whether you are using IErenderer or BearHTML. Try ctrl+pg up to increase the size for the message display while it is in the foreground and active. Regular messages and those HTML messages with no hard coded size show at default size and with the default Reader font. IErenderer can increase or decrease display for HTML messages whether or not hard coded but BearHtml can only change size if not hard coded into the source file. Which rendering engine are you using?
Has Microsoft indicated that they are now providing IMAP access to their Hotmail/Live/Outlook accounts?
Just found this dated Dec 12 2012

IMAP - At this time IMAP is not supported by Outlook.com. Microsoft plans to support in the future.

in outlook.com help, IMAP search provides method but I neglected to read the small prints:

Turn on POP or IMAP Access to Connect - Applies to: Office 365 for professionals and small businesses, Office 365 for enterprises, Live@edu

They don`t say outlook.com

Thus far after a couple weeks of use there have been no error messages or other hiccups to imply anything's going wrong. How will I know, if there is?
Post a copy of the output of the Help, About, Info button display here from the machine in question now. It seems you may not actually be running that copy on that machine but instead the copy on the server machine.  What is the actual command line or target line from the icon properties used to run Pegasus Mail? The new machine may only need and icon on it with nothing actually stored/written there.

Could you send me offline a copy of the old pmserver.txt file? I don't remember the setup and steps from that file thouigh I have seen it years ago.

You had asked about and used PCONFIG so we need to know what drive and what locations are actually being set there and also in the Gateway definition created with it so we would need to see both pmail.cfg and pmgate.sys file or their display output. If nothing is being saved or written to anything other than temp space on the new machine that would explain why no error messages and why it is working for you properly on the new machine.

I replaced the mapi32.dll file in System32 with the working file from my home computer and the "Send to..." function started working, but still no luck with Dentrix.

I've found several articles talking about Microsoft breaking MAPI (or at least Simple MAPI) in Windows 7.  I need to update the Dentrix software anyway, so that's the next step.

The permanent BCC header is a problem because the header looks like "BCC: (Suppressed)
" in the received message so isn't of much use.  It doesn't exist at all in the copy to self which surprised me.

Trays are not files at all. They are only "virtual" entries helping you defining a structure for your folders. Your folderstructure is written to HIERARCH.PM in your mailboxdirectory. If that file is corrupted, the struture is gone.

Do you have a backup of  HIERARCH.PM? Rename the actual one and restore it. Perhaps you have to recreate trays created after that backup.

If no backup you have to identify the folders of the corrupted trays, recreate that trays and move the folders there (by drag & drop) .

Well, after a lot of tweeking I was able to import the modified tab-delimited address book into Pegasus. What a frustrating process! There must be a better way. Anyway thanks for the help. It's done and I'm happy.
