As a temporary solution go to menu File/Selective Mail Downloads. The order shown is the order in which the messages are downloaded from the server. First thing, look for any messages with a large size ( eg more than 20k) Ignore them for now and for all the messages that look ok Select from the list, then click the Retrieve and Delete button. When you have checked out the list, click the "Make it so" button to download the marked messages. If that works, the problem is with one of the remaining messages. You will need to work through these one at a time, until you find the one that stalls.
The odds are that you have a message with a large attachment and that downloading it times-out the download. If you need this large file, you will need to increase your timeout value in the POP3 definition being used.
I have a problem with that old FAQ file and much prefer the description in the current v4.63 manual.pdf file of install to Memory stick as a beginning point. Keep in mind your v4.51 may have problems with newer OS machines that require v4.52 or later and really should only use v4.63.
To import old data and files you want only some files. Some others you definitely do not want to copy to the new USB stick install location like any old pmail.ini or any old pmail.cfg or pmgate.sys files plus and old user stored files that might have been stored in home mail box location of old install. You want your new USB stick install to be as clean and lean as possible due to the comparative slowness of read and write of the stick as compared to speed of a PC hard drive install.
http://www.vandenbogaerde.net/pegasusmail/pf_pmfiles.html is a very important reference to help you determine what files are and which ones you want to copy from the old install to the new USB install to have your new mail messages, message folders and address book information on the new stick.
The use of -a and -roam switches as part of command line/icon properties used to start the USB stick install of winpm-32 plus the -I <user> are very important. You may also wish to include -o to start in offline mode at first also. See either manual or Help and Commandline options information for more. When using stick install on local LAN you may need one set of settings but almost certainly also different set as either second Username or another Identity for the Tools, Internet options Receiving tabs and below and almost definitely a different set for use of the USB stick when out in the outside world across Internet connections other than home or work location that usually require different port numbers and different authentication entries. Remember that the host machine use of USB stick will provide only the basic OS and temporary files place and all other must be present on the USB stick and all file saved writes will be to the stick only.
Background: Case 1: Open Pmail offline (List mode), File > Exit Case 2: Open Pmail offline, Switch to Preview mode, File > Exit, Open Pmail offline, confirm Preview mode, File > Exit Diff all Pmail Case 1 and Case 2 files, The only file changed is PMAIL.INI. The only change in the file is the "Default settings values" in the [Pegasus Mail for Windows] section and the "Time and date run ended" in the [Pegasus Mail for Windows - Run Info] section.
This leads me to believe that the relevant setting is stored in the PMAIL.INI file.
Thanks, Brian. I've been looking at the Outgoing Mail options on the Tools menu & couldn't find the reply options settings you're referencing. It took me a while to realize that I had to actually reply to a message to see the Reply Options. Now things are working the way I want.
Pegasus Mail is only available via download but you may burn a copy to a CD if you wish. Read the Terms and conditions topic in the Pegasus Mail Help system for more information.
This is a known problem with high res monitors. You will also find the font in configuration screens to be very small. These fonts are all hard coded and only a change in screen resolution can make the font more readable. You may wish to search the forum and read some of the other threads where this issue is discussed.
Excuse me for not responding to your exact message when posting. I was so relieved to have it working again, just neglected to address your message.
To your questions; Yes, it was a new install to the SD chip and it had worked for several months before this problem arose; do not need to do the reinstall to a different location to confirm it does work; Yes, I agree to not over write the original files and I understand what you are getting at; have not moved my chip to any other system yet, still working on learning some more of the ins and outs of Pegasus Mail.
Yes also to your example of your system compared to mine are the same. Nice to see you are doing yours correctly, just like mine (BAG!). I knew my install was correct as it had worked just fine for several months before going on that trip. Had done some explaining to friends here before leaving and evidently when reinserting the Micro Mini SD Chip a miss handling of the insertion caused the switch to be moved and never thought of that until returning home as described in an earlier post. EGG-ON-FACE!! The best part is, "it is working correctly again."
Thanks. I am just so grateful to get it fixed. The printer driver on my system has never been reliable in the first place. Documents just printed when they felt like it and a lot of rebooting and swearing is always involved. TIme to get rid of the $25 HP printer that came free with a lap top!
If it doesn't work then there is something wrong with the credentials. Turn on internet session logging to see of the log identifies the problem. Read the help file about internet session logging.
We are merging with another company and we will want any emails that are unresolved to forward over to our other system, this way they can share the same namespace.
I has hoping that if the email wasn't found in the system that it would then just go straight over to the other companies server which is on exchange. I have already acheived it the other way round.
If I open the Charter IMAP Inbox, then attempt to perform a login at the same mailbox via POP3, I can receive the error "-ERR [IN-USE] account is locked by another session or for maintenance, try again". Note the error does not occur when the IMAP client is accessing a different folder; as POP3 is only aware of the Inbox.
The "require sign-in" has to do with SMTP; if "no" you will need to enter a username and password in order to send email.
