Without opening the Junk folder one would not have the opportunity to review for SpamHalter false positives.

If you know what is in the folder there will be no need to do this. Similarly, you may wish to delete the contents of folders other than Spamhalter's Junk folder.

I agree. A right-click > Delete Folder Contents command would be welcome.

As far as I understand RFC2047 there is no need to worry about the comma (=2C) in the encoded word. I.e. as I understand it

"Lastname, Firstname"

<jxyz@abc.com>

and

=?iso-8859-1?Q?Lastname=2C_Firstname?= <jxyz@abc.com>

are legal addresses with the same recipient. But Pegasus transforms the latter from field to the reply address

=?iso-8859-1?Q?Lastname?=, Firstname <jxyz@abc.com>

I think this violates RFC2047 which says: "IMPORTANT: 'encoded-word's are designed to be recognized as 'atom's
by an RFC 822 parser". Since this is the case here, Pegasus should not split up the encoded word.

P.S. Sorry for not providing screenshots, but I can't publish someone else's email address in a public forum.

Aside from this - just in case you didn't know: You can select entries one by one or multiple ones (<Shift> + click) and delete them using the <Del> key ...

Thanks.  I wasn't aware of that. I closed mine off to new addresses some time back, but periodically update the list by direct edit.

This has been passed to David Harris weeks ago, but if it will get in the cleanup v4.63 or the next major version is unknown.  Obviously the fix is not as simple as it looks.
.

This is my problem.  I had already done this, and as I say, if I send direct from Gmail all is good, but from Pmail it still sends with my Gmail address.

As a check I deleted my alternative address and re-entered  as by your link.  Still the same.

 Any other suggestions?  [:^)]
It appears that I don't understand your problem.  When I send a message from a Gmail account using Pegasus Mail (PM) I can configure Gmail and PM such that the From address in the message is a non-Gmail address; in the message header the Gmail address is included in both the Return-path and Sender entries.

I never use this since sending a message via the Pegasus Mail command line is like using a sledgehammer to kill a fly.  Either have you application create a *.PMX file (Message in final form in glue headers format ready for sending) or use something like Blat!.

BLAT  http://sourceforge.net/projects/blat

DESCRIPTION:

Blat is a Public Domain  Windows NT console utility that sends the contents of a file in an e- mail message using the SMTP protocol. Blat is useful for creating scripts where mail has to be sent automatically (CGI, backups, etc.) To use Blat you must have access to a SMTP server via TCP-IP. Blat uses the a DLL ("gensock" or "gwinsock") from WinVN, the public domain usenet newsreader for windows. Blat can store a default SMTP server address and a default "From:" field in the registry. The server's address can be overriden using the -server flag, and the "From:" address using the -f flag. Input from the console (stdin) can be used instead of a disk file (if the special filename '-' is specified). Blat can also "carbon copy" and "blind carbon copy" the message. Impersonation can be done with the -i flag which puts the value specified in the "From:" line, however when this is done the real senders address is stamped in the "Reply-To:" and "Sender:" lines. This feature can be useful when using the program to send messages from NT users that are not registered on the SMTP host.

Optionally, blat can also attach multiple binary files to your message.

I tried the suggestion but it made no difference. + assigned to the right mouse button in X-mouse still brought up the context menu in PMail.

I'll just continue with Bear which seems to adequately render most of the HTML formatted posts I get.

Hello Michael,
I was assuming you knew what applications are running on your machine, no?
regarding the applications I like to say "yes", but it's hard to see behind the curtain...

IIRC I didn't defined any macros. But now I remember month ago I installed and tried to use "Textbausteine" without success. I will uninstall this and try again.
BTW: I also wonder why you need to open this particular folder if you can just open the found message from the search results folder as well?
There may be several reasons:
- I remember the topic and want to recall the correspondence,
- I recieved a new mail to this seldom used topic and want to move it there,
- I feel the need for a reorder of folder hierarchy.

Best regards
Wolfgang

Michael:

We are now in good shape as it is gone. I'm guessing I did not fully delete words4.db3 because when I went back into the mail folder it was there and I was asking myself why is that there when I thought  I deleted it. Think it went to recycle bin but I didn't completely remove from the computer. It is gone now and you were certainly correct when saying "Deleting "words4.db3" usually fixes such an issue."

Anyway it is gone and once again I appreciate the help

LOL...I will try not to bother you people for a while
But what if they are local in respect to the mailserver, not Pegasus? Pegasus cannot know about all users, then. I foggily remember it might have been so when we used the Novell mailserver years ago - writing to users in the department by short name and to the outside world by internet addresses containing @.
You are right, in such case Pmail is not able to know about all local users. But if this is true, the user (or admin) should get the opportunity to decide whether he want to use local user names or not. To avoid the permanent error messages from Mercury (about 10 to 15 postmaster notifications per day @ 10 users) I would immediately disable the usage of local user names for internal communication, especially when auto-completing is activated - that means normally no more typing effort.

Thank you so much for sharing this. It did solve my problem: same issue,  was experimenting with dual screen. Using Pegasus 4.51. After updating to 4.63 still same problem.

Editing state.pmj is indeed less drastic as removing it also removed the folderview. (which I did, but luckely had it renamed instead of deleted).
How can I assure that the entire original message is included?
Update to , maybe? Otherwise try to do a select all before starting a reply and choose Selected portion from the upcoming dialog. BTW: What kind of messages are affected? Formatted (HTML) ones or plain text (you only need to tell us if updating Pegasus Mail isn't an option: then we would like to get a sample message for duplication as well)?

I'd just like to share my experience updating my wife's pmail from 4.41. Things did not go well.

Post upgrade:

after the logo screen we'd get a cryptic sql failure message from spamholder about a corrupt database

then we'd get the 'what's new' screen, and after that a message that there were autosaved messages that hadn't been sent (there were none)

I then (and this was the purpose of the upgrade) I changed her pop server from my box (running mercury) to pop.gmail.com:995

-upon restart, the new pop profile had reverted to the old one. The new one was there, but invisible, I had to manually add back on each restart and disable the old one. Even after deleting, the old profile did not stay deleted.

-the spamholder error persisted, as did the 'what's new' message, as did the 'autosaved messages' message.

-there was no menu item for the spamholder in the tools menu (!)

Trying to force a preference write with ctrl-exit did not help, the problems persisted. The pop profile kept reverting, the 'what's new' message

kept popping up and the spamholder spat the dummy every time. Nor could I turn it off, sans menu command.

Hijinks, hair pulling and blue language ensued. I won't trail through all the unsuccessful attempts at solution here, which I sifted from the help file and

searches of this forum.

In the end, I tried renaming pmail.ini. Upon restart, the program requested I enter a new email address, new pop server (hey, it did NOT give me the

option at that point to enter a secure connection, and of course the pickup subsequently failed - it might be a good idea to allow for that in future!)

Problems solved. No more spamholder errors, the spamholder item on the tool menu is now present, no more 'what's new' pop-up spam. No more mention

of auto-saved messages. Go figure.

There were no permission problems with the old .ini file, that was the first thing I checked.... the program just would not write to it, and the missing menu

item has me completely baffled. (Before anyone asks: win xp home on that machine, no UAC a la' Vista or Win7 running interference here)

Conversely, the upgrade to 4.62 from 4.5x on my own box went without a hitch.
