Thanks Tom I'd be happy to but please tell me how I did a message? Not sure where in PMAIL I find the file.
Select the message in the message listing and then hit right click "Save message data to file" and use something like badmess.cnm as the file name. You can then use "My computer to go to the directory and zip up the file.
We're using the mail merge option to send out several newsletters to several thousands of subscribers.
More than half of the recipients of one newsletter have subscribed to one or several other newsletters as well.
Often people cancel a subscription to one newsletter and start nagging about being spammed because the other newsletter they had subscribed to that they have not cancelled has arrived.
This takes a lot of time to manage, we basically have to check the email address against every datafile.
I am looking for a way to filter outgoing mail in a mailmerge against a list of 'no-go addresses'. In English: "Check if any address in this mailing list is also part of the checklist and if so, don't send the newsletter to that address".
Can this be done in Pegasus Mail?
I do not see a way to do this in PMail but what are you using to create the source data file in the mail merge? I assume you are using the same program for all of them. It seems that you should be able to scan all of the data files you are using looking for an address you just received in an unsubscribe fairly easily. Might even be able to GREP the source data files since they are pretty much plain text but if they are created dynamically like mine are that would not help all that much.
Now if you are using Mercury/32 to send the mail you might be able to use a policy to send mail to a program you develop. The program would be looking at the To: address and then scanning the list of "no-go addresses" for a match. If there is a match the message would be deleted or (better) sent to another users to verify the address should be removed.
As Thomas explained, a message forwarded with attachments will contain an attachment made up of the original message content. It will contain two such attachments if the original message was received in both a plain text version and an HTML version. One will be listed with file type "plain text" and the other with "HTML text". You can remove them before sending.
Ok. Problem solved, I think. Entirely user error and lack of experience. I had wsock32.dll set to never load. Of course, now I have Internet Options, but don't need to debug as IMAP is also working. Thank you, Thomas, for your input.

If you searched on GMail in this setup I'll bet you'll find at least one message with this info. ;-)

The firewall generally can be application specific and so one application can work when another cannot. You really need to verify that the application you are using is allowed to use the internet.
I read the help file regarding the TOOLBAR.PM file. After playing around I noticed that I could only edit the first toolbar. I didn't see any way of editing the buttons on the toolbar that controls folder and email functions. Is there a way to also customize this toolbar? I'd like to condense these two into one if possible.
Not possible. You can change the top tool bar a bit with the right click to show graphics only but there is no way to merge the two.
I can not find a download link for the 4.5 Version. Is this a beta one?
Yes, and you can get it at http://community.pmail.com/files/folders/pegbetas/default.aspx Not sure if it will solve the problem though since this really appears to be a winsock problem.
I had been there before and there was only the Bio page. This time I waited a minute of so (I'm on slow dialup out in the counrtry) and the other tabs eventually appeared.
Thanks for your suggestion. It might work - however, I'm not quite sure I understand exactly how you'd copy a message from an old mailbox into a new one on a freshly installed Pegasus. Do you knnow of a place in Pegasus which would permit me to browse for the old Mail folder containing the old mailbox?
Thank you for that. I right clicked the folder and selected folder information but there was no option to clear the cache that I could see. However I chose the Recover deleted space option from the right click menu and that appears to have fixed the problem
I had posted this and rec'd a reply with the request to add the info on the failure message. This is what they say:
reasons reported - relay host or by the local TCP/IP transport module: 553, sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed repthosts (#5.7.1)
This is saying that you are trying to relay off this host and this is not allowed. If this is your ISPs relay host that is sending this message you need to talk to the ISP.
I'm not sure what that means but I have called the recipients of the emails and made sure they had my new e-mail address in their book and then tried it again, always with the same return failure message. I had to switch back to Outlook Express in order to get some work done but would really like to get back to using Pegasus.
This is from the Windows Live Hotmail website's help pages. It's instructions for Outlook, but it should work for Pmail. Note that the pop3 port is 995, smtp port is 25 but BOTH ports still need ssl enabled. I haven't tested this myself (don't have an Hotmail account), but it should work.
In Outlook Express, click the Tools menu, and then click Accounts.
Click Add, and then click Mail.
Type your name, and then click Next.
Type your full Windows Live Hotmail e-mail address, and then click Next.
Enter the following information, and then click Next:
In the My incoming mail server is a box, click POP3.
In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server box, type pop3.live.com.
In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server box, type smtp.live.com
Type the account name and the password for your Windows Live Hotmail account. Clear the Remember password check box unless you're the only person with access to the computer. Make sure that the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box isn't selected.
Click Next, and then click Finish.
In the Internet Accounts window, click the Mail tab, click the Windows Live Hotmail account that you added, and then click Properties.
Click the Advanced tab, and under Server Port Numbers, enter the following information, and then click OK:
In the Incoming mail (POP3) box, type 995.
In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box, type 25.
Under both Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3), select the This server requires a secure connection (SSL) check box.

Excellent. Thanks for the info. It does work with pop3.live.com as the server name and the port set to 995, but it is necessary to disable certificate validation (security tab) as well as setting SSL.

1. Use Help | About Pegasus Mail | Info to locate the HOME mail directory.
2. Use File Manager or Explorer and go to this directory and delete the zero length PMO, PMX and PMW files.
