I suggest starting a new thread beginning with an explanation of how the same messages are getting on the different machines. Are you sharing a mailbox? Is each machine downloading the same messages?
Also... Is IERenderer enabled? Are you running the same version of IERenderer on both machines?
Finally, explain what happens when a message that doesn't appear in the preview pane is double clicked. Does it open in a reader window?
FWIW, when a message won't display or an attachment won't open, the first thing to try is a restart of the PC.
I asume that Pegasus on close first closes the connection to your IMAP-Account and in consequence has to close the IMAP-box (in "modern" view) or all folderwindows (in "classic" view) depending on that connection. So the windowstate saved on close is only windows of local folders open. I never tried that as I swapped to "modern" view as soon as Pegasus had it available.
In Tools | Internet options | General you can create a session log which might provide some useful information.
Read the associated Help files before doing so.
You can post the log here if you wish but remove your username and password first. Be aware that these might be in Base64 format and not immediately apparent.
> I have created "Copy-self" filter rules, but the mail I send is copied to > the outbox of the receiving mailbox, not the sending one.
Configure the appropriate Copy to self destination in each identity. Tools > Options > Outoing mail > Copies to self
> I have to add the SMTP hosts to the <Default> identity, otherwise PMail > complains it cannot send my new mail. Why?
I just tested this by disabling the SMTP host in my Default identity and messages sent by other identities send just fine via their assigned SMTP host. This would indicate that your sends are being done as the Default identity. You might try adding an SMTP host to the Default identity then disabling it to see if Pegagus Mail simply expects an SMTP host to exist. If you don't have the identity selector enabled in the new message windows then I suggest enabling it. It provides a visual indicator of which identity the messages is being created as.
Tools > Options > Outoing mail > Messages and replies > Add 'Identity' selector.

The headers should contain some unique content that identifies the server. An expression filter that detects that content might help.
Make sure you do not have multiple folders named "Inbox". Add a unique part to the folder name, eg: "Inbox_ShortIdentityCode
> And, how do I setup the mail filtering rules to work automatically when > I check for new mails?
New mail filters will move messages to the appropriate folder but additional filtering can only be done automatically via General rule sets that are attached as folder-open or folder-close filter sets. I use folder-close because it runs each time Pegasus Mail is shut down even if the folder is open. Filtering only read mail will require a rule that checks for the "has been read" attribute and has an action of Logical AND followed by the rule the actually perfoms the desired action.
Now, to my question: can you not allow Pegasus to yield control every second or so, that we can cancel the retrieval of a troublesome graphic? That would be a really helpful enhancement.
Try the ESC key, it should work in most cases (the download process doesn't always allow interruptions, though).
Would you please post what's in the file of the distributionlist (filename shown in the list auf distributionlists and file will be found in your mailboxdirectory; it's simple text and may be opend with texteditor).
BTW is there any documentation regarding what the purpose of all the files are in the pmail folders and how pmail works in general?
In Windows Explorer, navigate to the Pegasus Mail NewMail dir. This coulsd be either c:\pmail\mail or c:\pmail\mail\username, and then search for files with extension of PMW or PMX. These will be messages waiting to be mailed out. Move them temporarily out of the current directory. Then restart Pegasus Mail.
Preferably in Pegasus Mail select menu File/Review Queued Mail... to see if there actually are any messages queued. For any such messages select one at a time and click the Open button to view their content in the editor. Fix and save any that appear damaged or missing important fields such a Subject.
I am plagued with problems POPping messages from my outlook.com account. Mail is often brought down numerous times, both when PMail is set to delete on server and when set to download only unread. The messages only appear once when I look via the web interface so I know they are not being received multiple times by the server. That function that should delete the message or mark it as downloaded just seems to fail.
Another anomaly is a random failure to receive emails of community posts. I don't have a sense of how often this occurs. The only time it can really be noticed is when a reply is received to a post for which I didn't receive the original.
I have been living with these issues since day one, occasional testing different settings, but frustration got the best of me this morning so here I am.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Personal experience with an outlook.com address?
Is it possible to specify a text font to be used in all windows for sending mail, e.g. reply and New Mail messages? I can see how to change the font in an open window, if I change the font in that window, then send that item, if I subsequently open a new window (for a reply or new message) I am presented with the default font again. I am sure that I have done this in the past, but I now cannot find how to do it. Is it in the config file?
