Pegasus Mail Suggestions
64 Bit Pegasus Mail

I saw somewhere that David was not going to upgrade Pegasus Mail to 64 bit. Most all new programs/apps are 64 bit. The way Pegasus handles folders that grow to a couple of gigabytes in a very awkward way - it just starts giving an error that the file size is too big without any solve. Then the user has to figure out how to fix the problem themselves which is basically rename the physical file and not use it anymore. I typically have this problem with spam folders. 64 bit would solve a lot of this problem as file sizes can be larger than 2gb or 4gb on an appropriate file system. Bring Pegasus into the modern world. I doubt we will have any problems with folder sizes when you can store an exabyte with GPT file system.

Just looking at suggestions, and this is old. Not even sure what status is of upgrading to 64 bit. Mr. Harris might need to look at it.

I had the same problem with one of my projects years ago. Even did a test between 32 bit and 64 bit and found very little difference in speed or size in project, but then Fedora and most linux distros dropped 32 bit upgrades, so left me to have to migrate to 64 bit. Was a major build change.
Not sure what compiler Mr. Harris is using, and it has 64 bit, or would have to buy a new one. Then there are the support dll files he uses. Don't know if they are 32 bit only, or if he would have to get 64 bit versions and licenses?
Then would also, be issues with users running on 32 bit windows.

Been using Pegasus since the DOS days on Novell 2.x servers with 8088 PCs.
Sometimes strange things happen. Had an uucp gateway program with Pegasus to transport email from/server to internet. Worked great. Had a nearby high school that had a Novell network, but only had on pc on lan with modem for sending email thru dialup.. Setup the gateway program, but it failed to work? Machine I was using to run gateway was a 80286. The machine was an IBM System I with 8086 cpu. Program compiled with the 80286 option, so just had to recompile with the 8086 option -2 versus -1 if I recall. Then it worked fine.

Note sure if a new update has been pushed recently on what version 5 will and will not have. Know it is a lot of work, and Thank Mr. Harris.
